The objectives of the ETA Tamil School are to encourage Victorian Tamil children to learn their mother tongue, promote the cultural development and individual talents. Generally these are achieved by:

• Providing a safe and caring environment
• Maintaining a close relationship with the parents and encouraging them to actively take part in school programs
• Providing social and cultural programs
• Employing qualified and experienced teaching staff
• Continuously improving the skills of the teaching staff by providing appropriate training and Professional Development opportunities
• Providing supporting teaching materials/resources to teachers
• Providing additional development opportunities to teachers and administers by closely working with Ethnic Schools Association of Victoria (ESAV) and Department of Education and Training (DE&T).
• Encouraging students to get involved in leadership development activities
• Encouraging competition among students to be competitive and
• Recognising and rewarding excellence among students and teachers.
